The Club was formed in 1964. The objects of the Club are the promotion and improvement of the breed by means of educating the public, members and judges about the Shetland Sheepdog.

We also give advice to novice owners and  breeders, hold Breed and Grooming Clinics, and by means of Breed Shows we assess our breeding stock.

Initially the Club only held Breed Shows, but now both Open and Championship Breed Shows, Obedience and Carting Shows and Working Trials (Classic) are held annually. It is our intention to hold Dog Jumping
and Agility Shows in the near future.

In the mid 1980’s the Club held both Show Training and Obedience Training up to Class A, but due to gradual decline in interest, these were discontinued.

The club was at its peak in the late 1980’s with as many as 59 Shelties entered in the Breed Classes.

We will be holding our 45th Championship Show on 2nd October 2011.
